Is knitted free?
Yes. It is open source under the MIT licence.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Fonts, tools and the renderer all live on your computer. The only thing that goes online is a model you choose to connect.
Is the desktop app released?
Yes, for macOS, Windows and Linux, on the download page. It is early, so expect rough edges.
Which models work?
Any model or app that speaks MCP, such as Claude Code. The studio's own model uses a key you bring.
Can my model break my brand?
No. Locked Stitches cannot be changed through the tools. A refused change is reported back.
Where are my files?
In a folder on your computer. By default it is .knitted-studio in your home directory.
Can I use real album art or other brands' logos?
See Brand and legal guidance. The short version: only with permission.
Why the knitting words?
A Pattern is something you set once. A Stitch is one piece of it. Knit is the verb. It keeps the ideas straight. See the vocabulary.
